THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST

OUTLINE

Theme: The Victory of Christ and His Church Over Satan and his Helpers.

DIVISION I. The Conflict on Earth. Chapters 1 through 11.

    (1) Christ in the Midst of the Seven Golden Lampstands. Chapters 1 through 3.

Christ dictates letters to seven churches concerning the problems of His church on earth during the Christian dispensation.

    (2) The Book with Seven Seals. Chapters 4 through 7.

Christ reveals history between His two advents to the final judgement. The seven seals depict the adverse conditions of war, famine, and disease to be encountered by the church.

    (3) The Seven Trumpets of Judgement. Chapters 8 through 11.

Christ reveals history between His two advents to the final judgement. The seven trumpets depict God's continuation of the curse of Genesis 3:17-19 upon man's natural environment.
DIVISION II. The Underlying Conflict, the Deeper Spiritual Background. Chapters 12 through 22.
    (4) The Woman and the Man-Child Persecuted by the Dragon and His Helpers (the Beast and the Harlot). Chapters 12 through 14.

Christ reveals history between His two advents to the final judgement. The underlying conflict is revealed to be spiritual, between Christ and Satan.

    (5) The Seven Bowls of Wrath. Chapters 15 through 16.

Christ again reveals history between His two advents to the final judgement. The seven bowls represent God's final judgements throughout the Christian dispensation upon totally corrupted men who die in their sins.

    (6) The Fall of the Great Harlot and of the Beasts. Chapters 17 through 19.

Christ again reveals history between His two advents to the final judgement. Satan's human helpers are identified and their judgement is revealed. Corrupted Christianity (the Harlot) is contrasted with the true church (the Bride of Christ).

    (7) The Judgement upon the Dragon (Satan) followed by the New Heaven and the New Earth, the New Jerusalem. Chapters 20 through 22.

Christ again reveals history between His two advents to the final judgement, this time in figures depicting purely spiritual beings. The final judgement of Christ and His church in the purely spiritual realm is depicted.
