Section 4, Chapters 12-14, The Woman and the Man-Child Persecuted by the Dragon and His Helpers.

A. Chapter 12, Verses 1-5, The Woman, The Dragon, and The Child.

    John saw a woman with child about to give birth.

    John also saw a great red dragon having seven heads and ten horns.

    The dragon stood before the woman so that he might devour her child.

    The woman gave birth to a son who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron.

    The son was caught up to God and to His throne.

    The woman fled to a place prepared by God where she might be nourished for one thousand two hundred and sixty days.

B. Chapter 12, Verses 7-9, Satan's Expulsion from Heaven.

    Michael and his angels waged war in heaven with the dragon and his angels.

    The dragon, the serpent of old, is called the devil, and Satan who deceives the whole world.

    The dragon and his angels were thrown down to earth.

C. Chapter 12, Verses 10-12, The Heavenly View of Satan's Banishment from Heaven.

    A voice from heaven announces that the salvation, power, and kingdom of God, and the authority of His Christ has come.

    The voice also announces that the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down.

    The brethren overcame the dragon because of the blood of th Lamb, the word of their testimony, and because they did not love their life even to death

    The heavens and those who dwell in the heavens are told to rejoice.

    A woe is pronounced to the earth and the sea because the devil has come down having great wrath and only a short time.

D. Chapter 12, Verses 13-17, The Persecution of the Woman by the Dragon.

    The dragon persecuted the woman who gave birth to the man-child.

    The woman was given two wings of an eagle to fly to her place in the wilderness.

    The woman was nourished in her place for a time, and times and half a time from the presence of the serpent.

    The serpent tried to sweep the woman away by a flood of water from his mouth.

    The earth opened its mouth and drank up the water.

    The dragon went off to make war on the offspring of the woman who keep God's commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus.

E. Chapter 13, Verses 1-10, The Beast Out of the Sea and the Beast Out of the Earth.

    John saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads.

    The beast was like a leopard with feet like a bear and a mouth like a lion.

    The dragon gave the sea beast his power, his throne, and his authority.

    John saw one of the heads as if it had been slain, and his fatal wound was healed.

    The whole world followed after the beast and worshiped him and the dragon who had given the beast his authority.

    The beast was given a mouth speaking arrogant words and blasphemies and authority to act for forty two months.

    The beast blasphemed against God and all who dwell in heaven.

    The beast was allowed to make war with the saints and was given authority over all peoples of the earth.

    All who live on the earth will worship the beast except those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life.

F. Chapter 13,Verses 11-18, The Beast Out of the Earth.

    John saw another beast coming up out of the earth.

    This second beast had two horns like a lamb but he spoke as a dragon.

    The second beast exercises the authority of the first beast.

    The second beast makes the people of the earth worship the first beast whose fatal wound was healed.

    The beast from the earth performs great signs and deceives those who dwell on earth.

    The second beast causes the people of the earth to make an image of the first beast and worship it.

    The image is given breath to speak and to cause those who do not worship the first beast to be killed.

    The second beast causes all people to be given a mark on their right hand or forehead.

    No one is allowed to buy or sell unless he has this mark of the beast.

    The second beast has the number of a man, the number six hundred and sixty six.

G. Chapter 14, Verses 1-4, The Lamb and the 144,000 on Mount Zion.

    John saw the Lamb standing on Mount Zion with 144,000 people.

    The 144,000 people had the Lamb's name and the name of the Father on their foreheads.

    John heard a voice from heaven.

    The 144,000 people sang a new song before the throne and the four living creatures and the elders.

    No one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been purchased from the earth.

    The 144,000 are identified as:

    Those who have not been defiled with women but are chaste.

    Those who follow the Lamb wherever He goes.

    Those who have been purchased as first fruits.

    Those for whom no lie was found in their mouth.

    Those who are blameless.

H. Chapter 14, Verses 6-7, The Angel with the Eternal Gospel.

    John saw another angel flying in mid-heaven having an eternal gospel to preach to all people of the earth.

    The angel warns to fear God and worship Him for His judgement has come.

I. Chapter 14, Verse 8, Announcement of the Fall of Babylon.

    John saw a second angel announcing, Babylon is fallen.

    Babylon is declared to have made all the nations practice immorality.

J. Chapter 14, Verses 9-12, Judgement of Those with the Mark of the Beast.

    John saw a third angel announcing the judgement of the wrath of God upon those who worship the beast.

    Worshipers of the beast warned that they will be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and the Lamb.

    The saints urged to persevere in keeping the commandments of God and faith in Jesus.

K. Chapter 14, Verse 13, The Blessing of Those Who Die in the Lord.

    John heard a voice from heaven pronouncing a blessing on those who die in the Lord: they may rest from their labors, for their deeds will follow them.

L. Chapter 14, Verses 14-16, One Like a Son of Man Reaps the Harvest of the Earth.

    John saw, sitting on a cloud, One like a Son of Man wearing a crown and holding a sickle in His hand.

    John saw an angel come from the heavenly temple with the message, "Put in your sickle and reap."

    The angel's message also said "the hour to reap has come, because the harvest of the earth is ripe."

    The Son of Man swung His sickle and the earth was reaped.

M. Chapter 14, Verses 17-20, The Vision of the Judgement of the Wicked.

    Another angel came out from the heavenly temple and he also had a sickle in his hand.

    Still another angel with power over fire came out from the altar with the message: "Put in your sharp sickle and gather the clusters from the vine of the earth, because the grapes are ripe."

    The angel swung his sickle and gathered the clusters into the wine press of the wrath of God.

    The wine press was trodden outside the city,

    Blood came out from the wine press, up to the horses bridles, for a distance of two hundred miles.
